Statistics show that nearly 85% of all adult men suffer from some type of intestinal problem. The list of intestinal disorders that plague mankind is long and most of them arise from an improper diet. The following common intestinal problems occur:
Diverticular Disease results from the weakening of the muscular walls in the colon due to lack of fiber or bulk in the digested food. Hernia develops in the weak spots causing the colon to protrude outwards. These protrusions are called diverticula. Food and waste accumulate in these areas and result in infection. Crohn’s Disease results from inflammation of the mucous lining which produces abscesses. Scar tissue develops in the colon which narrows the passageway. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)-is a very common condition in North American men. It results in uncontrolled contractions of the colon walls that are very painful. Polyps are growths on the inside of the small intestine and colon. They cause blockages of the digestive tract and can become cancerous. Prolapsus refers to accumulation of waste in the transverse colon which is forced downwards by the effect of gravity. It will also put additional pressure on other organs such as the spine and back. Parasitic infestations (e.g. worms) are very common even among adults.
These conditions can to a large extent be alleviated by maintaining a clean colon, devoid of any accumulated wastes. Colon cleansing is an excellent means for this. Methods such as laxatives and colonics are very popular in this regards.
